This rare RCA special product was licensed to Time-Life in the United States and , in fact, was a part of their very popular series of boxsets titled "The Rock 'n' Roll Era". In order for an Elvis fan to obtain the Elvis boxset they had to subscribe to the Time-Life series and agree to purchase one boxset a month which would then be shipped to their home. Time-Life capitalized on Elvis' popularity by seeing to it that the Elvis set was the last in the series thereby forcing Elvis fans to spend a fortune purchasing boxset after boxset of other artists in the series as they waited for the month (which actually took almost 2 years) that the Elvis boxset would come their way.
